These bags do not come with a valve nor does it have tin ties at the top for closure. It all depends on what coffees/other items you ar putting in here.
Many coffee bags utilize both tin ties and valves. The tin tie provides the re-closable feature, while the valve ensures the coffee remains fresh by releasing gases. In these cases, the valve is usually located near the top of the bag, often under a small, round "button". When are valves necessary? Valves are most important for products that continue to off-gas after packaging, like freshly roasted coffee beans. If the product doesn't produce gases after packaging or if freshness is not a major concern, a valve may not be necessary.
