Unfortunately it's kind of hard to provide an exact number for the weight it can hold.

That being said - I wanted to provide some kind of concrete answer for you, and I tested the box out with some products I had on hand.
There wasn't an excessive amount of stress anywhere on the box when I put 3 lbs. inside - so as a very rough estimate, you should be okay under 3 lbs. - but please note, this wasn't a very "scientific" test so results could vary.
Weak points could be the bottom (interlocking paperboard) or handles.

- weight distribution of contents
- moisture (if holding hot or moist items)
- expected movement or jostling
- time under stress
