Nearly all the Brown Kraft Paper Shopping bags made in the USA have a grading on the weight a square inch of the paper will support without tearing, or bursting. That number is called Basis weight. This bag you asked specifically about is made with a Basis Weight paper that is a whopping 63#. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean you can put 63# in the bags....it just means the paper tested out at that weight. Generally we find few people will ever put enough weight in this type of bag unless they sell lead shot, a full bag of steel marbles or bars of silver and gold. If you are putting about any kind of food item, clothing, shoes or gifts the bags are strong enough, and then some. I'd suggest if you are still concerned just call us and we will ask what you are putting in the bags and most likely you will be fine. However, the fail safe way to know if you have very heavy items like the Gold, call for a couple samples and you can do some field testing on your bags!!! Call 888-321-2248 if you want to order a sample or two.
