Good question, the sizing can be quite confusing because these bags have a bottom gusset as opposed to side gussets like most bags. Click here to check out this video that better explains it. To answer your question though, if your clamshell is like most clamshell boxes and is 8x8" or larger, this bag is probably a little too small. It would probably be best to jump one size to the 18x16x9".
