This is an excellent question. I researched various avenues and this is what I came up with. Of course the recycling process varies from municipality to municipality, so be sure to follow up with your local recycling plant. According to one of my researches, "Note that grease and oil make cardboard and paper unrecyclable, so pizza boxes covered in grease aren't fit for the recycling bin. However, if the box is mostly clean with just a few specks of grease, you're fine to recycle it. The same goes for other contaminants. If you're making pancakes and a drop of egg lands on the box, it's still clean enough to recycle. However, too much of a mess will make it impossible to recycle." Keep in mind this particular take out box is also compostable. So in the event that the box cannot be 'cleaned' out of food debris, if tossed in the trash can, it will decompose when taken to a landfill. Either way, it is a very earth friendly item and feel good we are reducing waste.
