Are these microwavable?
16 oz. Planet Plus Compostable Paper Soup, Ice Cream or Food Containers
My purpose for the soup cups is to freeze soups and stews and then thaw and reheat via microwave. I tested a 12 oz. sample and it seemed to microwave okay on high for 4 minutes, though the plastic lid began to shrivel. Are the soup cups recommended for microwave? (I know that chili cups from Wendy's say they are not.) What's the best type of lid?

The Planet + compostable food containers and lids are freezer safe, however the manufacturer does not recommend them for microwaving. An alternative cup and lid that is both freezer safe and microwave safe is Item #:14362. It is made in the United States however it is not as "earth-friendly" as the Planet +. If you would like to try a sample of item #14362, give us a call 888-321-2248 and speak to one of our packaging advisors
