A) Yes, all natural fiber products like our molded pulp products will degrade in the ocean, and from what is generally known in the public domain, if ingested by marine wild life they should be fine. Not like plastic debris which just builds up in their systems and hurts them… We do not have any sort of comprehensive testing for this, just the generally accepted knowledge that natural plant fibers do break down in marine environments in general. For anything specific we would suggest further study and testing as situations and conditions vary widely. B) The molded pulp can be home composted, but not everyone is diligent in the care of their home compost pile. For some people “composting” is simply raking the leaves into a pile and leaving them in a corner of the yard for the rest of the year. Others will have a dedicated bin, which they turn, keep moist, and operate in the correct manner. It is general acknowledged that if someone is home composting in a diligent manner as prescribed by experts then the products will compost just fine. But others may or will not adhere to proper methods and normal composting is challenged. So, we cannot say or claim our products will home compost without question in all situations, but we do feel that in a well tended home compost bin managed properly in proper composting techniques and technology, one would expect to not have any problems. However, keep in mind, situations vary from location to location, and we cannot give a blanket validation they will compost except in well managed commercial facilities.
